Engagement Details

Employee Engagement and Culture Change: Advanture helped two medium-sized sister companies in Toronto (total of 500 employees) measure and improve employee-management relations, employee engagement, the quality of supervision and leadership, organizational effectiveness, and the alignment of organizational culture with corporate vision, strategy and core values. Unique challenges in this project included:

  • Post-strike union environment: low trust, high anger, some workplace violence
  • Ongoing radical industry consolidation and organizational change: extreme employee stress
  • Many long-tenured leaders with no formal leadership training and decades in a slow changing industry

Advanture’s integrated solution included culture analysis, generating concrete metrics for all aspects of the project, forums to gather employee feedback, identifying quick wins and highest priority opportunities for improvement, project planning & project management support, management development workshops, employee communication campaign, organizational development work and regular follow-up debriefing for project teams. Improvements (results) included improved employee job satisfaction, morale, and productivity; better alignment of culture with corporate vision & values; greater mutual trust and respect between employees and management; and improved supervisory and leadership practices across the organization—as per the plan.
